Primary School

鶹AV Primary School is a nurturing and supportive learning environment for students from Prep to Year 6.

鶹AV Primary School provides a nurturing and supportive learning environment for students from Prep to Year 6. The foundations for all future learning are formed during these crucial Primary years and our staff strive to make certain these foundations are solid through engaging and interactive learning experiences. Our Primary staff are dedicated to ensuring your child’s lifelong learning journey gets off to a great start. We believe that for a child to reach their learning potential, they must be secure in the knowledge that they are safe and supported. Through our 3 B’s – Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner – we work together to ensure each young person feels confident to take risks as a learner and knows they are valued as a respected member of our community.

Contemporary education is very different to the schooling experiences many adults remember. Learning today is fast paced and involves a variety of mediums. Preparing our young people for an unimaginable future is a responsibility we take very seriously. Therefore, the learning experiences in all subjects are explicit, intentional and engaging, encompassing the various learning styles of our students and providing high quality differentiation. Teachers build relationships with students and their families to support the pastoral and educational needs of each child.

Digital Technologies

There is no denying the impact technology has on a child’s life. At 鶹AV we embrace this exciting element of education with digital technologies taught explicitly and integrated into the curriculum. Students have access to a variety of devices in all Primary classrooms. Our one to one laptop program begins in Year 4, with students being supported in learning their responsibilities when using technology and safely accessing the internet. All use of technology in the Primary School supports and further enhances the delivery of the curriculum and is monitored to ensure the safety of our students.

"Our parents and carers are welcome and actively involved"
Mr Bill Garland, Head of Primary

From the first contact with 鶹AV to the time their children graduate in Year 12, our parents, carers and extended family members are treated as highly respected and valued members of the TLC community. Through various formalised programs such as TLCCA (鶹AV Community Association) and CPR (Class Parent Representatives) and less formal interactions such as classroom and excursion helpers, Father’s Day Breakfasts, Mother’s Day Breakfasts and Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day Celebrations, our aim is to ensure our parents, carers and other family members feel welcome and that their opinions and ideas are important in the education of their child and the success of the College. All staff warmly welcome interactions with our extended College community.

"鶹AV is innovative and cutting edge"
Director of Data, Analytics & eLearning

Following sound research, 鶹AV proudly initiates programs and approaches to curriculum delivery and staff development which are contemporary and support innovation in the field of education. Examples of such innovations include:

  • The implementation of the Graduate Teacher Mentoring program which ensures our beginning teachers are fully supported as they strive to become leading educators.
  • Walker Learning approach in Prep to Year 2 which promotes child focused education allowing each child the opportunity to thrive and flourish. This play and project-based holistic pedagogy provides a unique balance between children being active participants in their learning and explicit instruction.
  • The Resilience Project: an emotionally engaging program to provide practical, evidence-based mental health strategies to build resilience and happiness based upon gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. Aligning with a whole of College approach to student mental and emotional wellbeing.

We are always open to ideas which will better prepare our students for the future and which will help to make them valuable members of our society.
